Why This Workshop
The Difference a Dedicated Bench Makes
A watch repaired by someone whose only work is watches comes back in a different condition than one processed by a general technician. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Six Reasons Owners Return
Horology as a Specialty
Expertise
The principal trained for twelve years before opening this workshop. That depth shapes how each intake is approached — not as a generic repair job, but as a specific movement with its own history and quirks.
- Swiss, Japanese, and German calibre familiarity
- Vintage pocket watch and wristwatch experience
- Complications assessed case-by-case
A Process That Doesn't Skip Steps
Process
Each service follows a documented sequence: intake inspection, disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, drying, fresh lubrication under magnification, reassembly, and timing verification. Nothing is abbreviated to meet a deadline.
- Ultrasonic cleaning for all movement parts
- Timegrapher readings before and after
- 24-hour wear simulation before return
The Right Tools for Fine Work
Equipment
Watchmaking demands equipment that matches the scale of the parts. The workshop uses a watchmaker's microscope for lubrication, a digital timegrapher for movement analysis, and an ultrasonic cleaner designed for movement components — not a repurposed general unit.
- Moser-grade movement microscope
- Digital timegrapher with multi-position testing
- Water resistance pressure tester
Communication That Respects Your Time
Service
You are informed before work progresses, not after. If something unexpected is found during disassembly, the watch is set aside and you receive a note describing the situation clearly. Nothing is decided without your input.
- Pre-work condition report included
- Updates before proceeding to each new stage
- Plain language — no unnecessary technical jargon
Pricing Matched to Scope
Value
Three service tiers cover most situations, with pricing set before work begins. Parts sourcing costs are discussed separately and agreed before purchase. There are no ambiguous line items at collection.
- Routine Service from ฿4,200
- Crystal & Seal Renewal from ฿14,800
- Collector's Restoration from ฿33,000
Measurable Outcomes
Results
Timing results are recorded numerically — rate per day, amplitude, beat error — and shared with you at return. The watch's performance before and after service is documented so the improvement is visible, not just implied.
- Before/after timegrapher readings provided
- Restoration images shared on request
- Written service record kept on file

Distinctive Features of the Mainspring Approach
The Bench Log
Every piece receives a hand-written bench log noting dates, findings, parts used, and measurements. A copy stays with the watch file permanently.
No Subcontracting
All movement work is done in-house on a single bench. The watch does not leave the workshop to be serviced elsewhere and returned.
An Unhurried Assessment Period
Collector's restoration pieces are given an initial assessment window of several days before any work begins. This allows a considered plan rather than a rushed diagnosis.
Established Supplier Network
Parts sourcing draws on relationships built over sixteen years with suppliers in Switzerland, Japan, and Thailand. Unusual calibres are not turned away automatically.
